About the opportunity
Your position will lead budget preparation and forecasting for the annual program, quarterly reforecasting, and longer-term budget forecasts. This is an exciting time for the Senior Finance and Capex Analyst to be involved in the modelling of future capex projects as you work closely with major stakeholders internally on forecasts, budgets, analysis and reporting of a range of capex projects underway, and in the pipeline. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, and working closely alongside the Project and Property Teams, you will: 

  • Adopt best practice methodologies on monitoring capital expenditure.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to provide detailed cost benefit analysis for capex projects and provide relevant reporting to stakeholders.

  • Ensure Newcastle Airport’s capex is controlled and provide monthly updates on spend to date, including comparison to budget and revised forecasts.

  • Act as the key finance subject matter expert for capex decision and asset management.

The personal attributes we are seeking include an inquisitive nature, and analytical mind and most importantly excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholder groups.

Experience wise we are seeking a finance professional who can bring working knowledge and qualifications in the following areas:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in financial analysis and capital [project/ asset accounting.

  • Technical 1 experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in the use of financial models for financial forecasting, budgeting and/or investment evaluation.

  • High degree of problem-solving ability an attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to communicate financial reporting outcomes to a non-financial audience.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including thorough understanding of accounting standards.

  • Degree in Accounting/Commerce or Business. CPA / CA qualifications (or equivalent).  

Desirables:

  • Experience in using Technology One ERP systems

  • Experience in dashboard reporting.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in management accounting and capex analysis infrastructure or similar capital-intensive sectors.  

COVID vaccination is a requirement of the position.
