About the role
This role is responsible for the leadership and development of a team of specialist advocates, advocates and intake officers as well as the delivery of the day to day operational requirements of the region.
  
With a focus on best practice, you will support the region, and the organisation more broadly, to achieve operational objectives through the on-going development of your team, acting as an escalation point for complex matters as well as providing a transparent, supportive and action oriented approach to both people management and the advocacy services you and your team provide.
  
This is a full-time role based and can be located in the Tamworth or Armidale, working across the New England region. Reporting to the Deputy Manager Advocacy, you will manage the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the day to day delivery of the disability advocacy services for your region

  • Provide ongoing support and development to your team and foster a culture in line with ALA’s values of honesty, integrity, respect, and courtesy

  • Ensure the team provides high quality advocacy support and conduct reviews and identify opportunities for coaching and support

  • Provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to the team you support

  • Manage a small active caseload as well as act as an escalation point for complex cases in your region

  • Work collaboratively with the broader ALA team to ensure compliance with relevant policy, procedures and guidelines as well as all regulatory requirements

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, to develop your team and manage workflow appropriately

  • Prepare and manage all reporting as required for senior management regarding regional performance

About you
We are looking for an experienced and proactive people leader. Ideally you will have:

  • Proven experience in a similar role

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a complex service

  • Success in providing excellent outcomes for service delivery models

  • Knowledge and understanding of key disability issues including NDIS and Disability Royal Commission

  • Proven experience in advocating for people of disadvantage or vulnerable groups

  • Ability to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders, including regulatory and industry bodies

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills including strong assessment and judgement skills

  • Sound business acumen and proven experience in undertaking activities that contribute to meeting the business’s objective and plans

  • Tertiary qualifications in legal studies, social work, social science, psychology, community services, or similar
