Our client, Singleton Council are a dynamic, multi-skilled, diverse group of people who share the same passion — to deliver outstanding services and outcomes for the community. They have a clear Community Vision being – Singleton. Vibrant, progressive, connected, sustainable and resilient.

In response to identified local needs, they are establishing The Singleton Worker Pathways Program, which is designed to provide a navigation and referral style employment, skills, and career service for Singleton residents that will offer individually tailored direction. Within this program, there is a specific program track to develop an indigenous pathways program to support the indigenous community within Singleton that will seek to consult with this community, understand the needs of this cohort and develop a pathways program that aligns with the wider program but addresses the specific needs of the Singleton Indigenous worker and youth community.

To support this exciting initiative, they are seeking an Indigenous Employment Pathways Advisor to join the team, 20 hours per week for 12 months on a casual on hire basis!

General objectives will be to:

  • Assist in the set up and development of the Singleton Indigenous Pathways Program in conjunction with the Senior Economic Development Officer and the Singleton Employment Pathways Advisor

  • Create and build a network and relationships across the Singleton Indigenous Community as well as connections with regional, state and federal programs

  • Undertake extensive consultation within the Singleton Indigenous community to understand the key needs of this community and ensure they are met and aligned within the wider Pathways and Employer programs

  • Refer and assist indigenous clients to navigate the breadth of available training and services

  • Undertake outreach and build relationships with business, service providers and other stakeholders to facilitate two-way client referrals in conjunction with the Senior Economic Development Officer

  • Undertake reporting against specific metrics to inform program evaluation

  • Promote the program via social media

To be considered you will ideally bring:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in career, employment or community services, HR, recruitment, or other case management or labour market focused role.

  • Excellent networking skills and demonstrated capacity for collaboration, and outreach.

  • Demonstrated understanding of worker challenges and career options.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong IT skills and ability to collaborate online as well as face to face.

  • Experience with reporting against targets.
