The Opportunity
The Coordinator Economic Development will lead the successful implementation of key economic development initiatives across a variety of focus areas including tourism, industry and skills development and economic innovation. This is a chance to be a part of positive change that will support Singleton’s economic diversification and prosperity now and into the future. This 8-month opportunity has come about due to extended leave within the team and there will be a clear plan and handover to ensure the successful candidate can hit the ground running!
Duties will also include
Effective people leadership of two direct reports providing coaching, support, and guidance
Provide specialist economic development advice and collaborate with council staff, stakeholders and networks when required
Source, research, and analyse economic data and trends, providing insights and reporting to help inform the economic position for Singleton
Build and maintain beneficial relationships with key networks and stakeholders including regional and local government bodies, state and federal agencies, and local community groups
Facilitate grant funding and applications to support economic development
About You
The successful candidate will be organised, analytical, enjoys data analysis and can draw compelling insights from data to help tell the story and inform direction. We are looking for an effective communicator and leader who can build rapport and relationships quickly with relevant stakeholders. Experience in a similar position within economic development is required and if you have worked within regional communities and/or within local government this would be advantageous.
Please note Singleton Council are open to secondment opportunities from other areas of government.
Ideally you will bring:
High level business acumen and strategic approach with business development focus
Demonstrated experience in identifying preparing and presenting business cases including detailed cost and benefit analysis
Excellent project management skills with experience delivering similar initiatives with success
Demonstrated success in networking and collaborating across diverse groups with an outcome focus
