About NCIG
Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) has been connecting coal mines from the Hunter Valley, Gunnedah, Gloucester, and Western Coalfields of New South Wales to international coal export markets since 2010. Located at Kooragang Island, their operations include rail, coal storage, ship loading facilities and associated infrastructure which is connected to the Port of Newcastle.
  
About the opportunity

NCIG is seeking a Project Engineer, initially on a 12-month temporary basis to join their team onsite at Kooragang. The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support for their Operations group to cost effectively maximize the plant availability, unload and load rates, whilst maintaining safety and environmental compliance.
  
The major focus of this position is project delivery, ensuring that outcomes deliver the approved scope of work, meets the customer’s expectations, and achieves the agreed cost and schedule. The scope of projects will be structural, mechanical and civil in nature and focus around the wharves, specifically steel structure remediation, painting, steel wrapping wharf poles (industrial tape), welding works.

About you
To be considered you will ideally bring:

  • Formal qualifications in Engineering (degree/diploma or equivalent); preference will be given to a mechanical, structural or civil qualification.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to interact with construction contractor personnel for installation and modification of equipment.

  • Commissioning experience

  • Ability to write and present reports and other engineering documentation to various audiences

  • Up to date knowledge of legislative requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment and achievements in safety management
