Our client has been a leader in supporting local women for over 40 years offering a range of health, community, and advocacy services including women’s health clinics, counselling, massage therapy, information, and referral. In addition, they also run a wide range of successful women’s group programs and events throughout the year. With a committed, engaged Committee they are always looking at new ways to improve services and promote women’s rights and dignity.  

About the opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person, to lead and manage a team of experienced and dedicated professionals. It’s a diverse role managing a team of 13, including GP’s, women’s health nurse, counsellors, a health promotion officer, youth worker and medical receptionists. In this role you will also work closely with the Management Committee, responsible for providing the operational management and broader strategic direction of the Centre.  

Duties include:  

  • Provide leadership to ensure delivery of high-quality services, programs and outreach activities  

  • Supervise staff and manage performance 

  • Ensure the Centre meets its administrative, accountability and reporting requirements. 

  • Foster partnerships within the community and increase the public profile 

  • Project planning, policy development, implementation, and evaluation  

  • Grant applications, submissions and report writing including reporting to funding bodies  

  • Attend & contribute to monthly Management Committee meetings

About you:  

We are looking for a committed and innovative person with excellent communication skills, possessing a calm and confident leadership style. The successful candidate ideally will have worked within the women’s health sector but open to candidates from a variety of community and NGO backgrounds. We encourage applications from First Nations or CALD women.  

Essential Criteria includes:  

  • Tertiary qualifications or extensive relevant industry experience in the health/community or NGO sector 

  • 5 years + demonstrated leadership experience in a community-based organisation  

  • Ability to lead and manage organisational change with a consultative and empathetic approach  

  • High level communication skills including oral, written and negotiating skills 

  • Understanding and knowledge of social view of women’s health, a commitment to feminist principles and women’s right to self-determination  

  • Being a woman is a requirement for this position under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 

The successful candidate will need to pass a Criminal Record check, Working with Children Check and up-to-date COVID19 Vaccination status.
