Based on Kooragang Island, just minutes from Newcastle’s stunning coastline, NCIG is one of the most advanced coal export terminals in the world. Their infrastructure includes rail, coal storage, ship loading facilities and associated infrastructure which is connected to the Port of Newcastle.


You’ll get hands-on with their advanced infrastructure, from ship loaders and conveyors to cutting-edge mechanical systems, directly contributing to the smooth, safe, and efficient movement of exports. Every project you work on will build your skills and show how engineering keeps critical systems running smoothly.

Your Opportunity

As an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer within the Assets & Infrastructure team, you will:

  • Work 3 days per week (on average) while continuing your studies part time

  • Be mentored by highly experienced engineers and industry experts

  • Work with a highly skilled team and carry out small engineering projects

  • Learn how to apply your design skills in a large industrial plant

  • Participate in fault finding mechanical engineering problems

  • Build analytical, problem-solving and technical skills that set you apart

  • You’re currently studying a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
