About the opportunity
Reporting to a supportive Senior People & Strategy Manager, the Senior HR Advisor will play a key role in strengthening people processes, supporting leaders, and enhancing the employee experience across the organisation.
This is a varied and hands-on generalist role where no two days look the same. You’ll partner closely with leaders and employees to deliver high-quality HR advice and support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, performance, remuneration, engagement and offboarding, while also helping to uplift internal HR frameworks, policies and programs.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
Provide day-to-day HR guidance on performance, employee relations, policies and best practice
Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding, ensuring a seamless experience for new starters
Support remuneration reviews, reward and recognition programs and payroll-related processes
Contribute to performance review processes, capability development and training coordination
Drive culture, engagement and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation
Assist with compliance, WHS alignment, risk assessments and HR documentation
Prepare HR reporting, insights and documentation that support informed decision-making

To thrive as Newcastle Airport’s next HR Advisor, you’ll bring:
Demonstrated HR generalist experience with solid understanding of employment legislation
Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
Confidence to provide practical, solutions-focused advice to leaders
Excellent organisation and time management skills across competing priorities
The ability to work collaboratively while being highly self-sufficient
Sound judgement, professional boundaries and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion
Strong relationship-building capability, emotional intelligence and resilience
A proactive, forward-thinking mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources (or equivalent experience) are essential.

You’re a capable, confident HR practitioner who thrives in a generalist role and enjoys partnering with leaders to deliver positive, people-focused outcomes. You’re organised, solutions-minded and comfortable navigating both strategic projects and hands-on HR delivery.
You communicate clearly, build strong relationships, and bring a balanced, pragmatic approach to your work. Most importantly, you will role-model Newcastle Airport’s values and contribute positively to its culture.
