About the opportunity
  
Reporting to the CEO, the Sales Manager will drive overall sales for the business while leading, mentoring and motivating the team of Account Managers to achieve individual and team goals. The Sales Manager will be accountable for developing and implementing effective business development strategies and objectives to drive gross profit. With a strong focus on authenticity and integrity, you will ensure you and your team are building positive relationships with all customers.
  
Other key responsibilities:

  • Drive a safety-first culture, lead by example, and ensure the team are demonstrating safe work practices.

  • In collaboration with the CEO develop and implement strategies to grow the gross profitability of the business through increased sales, improved margin, and increased customer retention and referrals.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team, providing regular feedback and ensuring the team adheres to agreed sales and business development processes.

  • Identify significant new sales opportunities, develop and execute sales strategies to win the opportunities with your team.

  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Marketing, Estimating, Category Management to drive sales strategies and align them to company’s objectives.

About you
  
The successful candidate will ideally have a background working with trade customers and at least five years’ experience in a similar management role. You’ll bring a strong commercial mindset, a commitment to people and safety, and a genuine passion for customer care and experience. With confident leadership and influencing skills, you’ll shape a high-performance team culture that drives accountability, growth and consistent delivery for customers.
  
In addition, we’re looking for:

  • A proven commercial operator with demonstrated success driving overall sales in a business, leading a sales team, building new business pipelines and developing sales strategies that deliver measurable growth. Your ability to identify new revenue streams, convert opportunities and model strong sales behaviours will be key.

  • An emotionally intelligent communicator who is able to pitch ideas, negotiate outcomes, coach your team and build trusted client relationships. You can communicate a clear value proposition and motivate others to act.

  • A strategic thinker with commercial discipline, balancing big-picture planning with attention to detail. You make thoughtful, data-driven decisions and set goals grounded in integrity, trust and performance.

  • A people-focused leader who lifts capability, sets expectations and leads with energy, honesty and accountability. You’ll inspire a team to embrace targets and take pride in delivering for customers.

  • Sound understanding of the building process and the ability to speak confidently with builders, trades and suppliers will be highly regarded.
