Job Description

  • Support women and children impacted by domestic and family violence

  • Join a national pilot program delivering innovative outreach healthcare

  • Part-time role (3 days) with a compassionate, values-driven team

Are you a compassionate Registered Nurse looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and children affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV)?

Join a groundbreaking national pilot program improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations residing in crisis accommodation on the Central Coast. As a key member of a multi-disciplinary outreach healthcare team, you will deliver trauma-informed, evidence-based, and developmentally appropriate care that supports women and children to rebuild their health and wellbeing.

What you’ll do

  • Work alongside an experienced GP as part of an established outreach healthcare program in collaboration with Central Coast PHN and Point Clare Medical Practice.

  • Conduct health assessments, support care planning, and coordinate referrals to GPs, allied health, and community-based services.

  • Provide health education and promote wellbeing for women and children who have experienced trauma and displacement.

  • Collaborate with refuge staff and other service providers to ensure coordinated, person-centred care.

  • Support initiatives that build health literacy, empower clients, and promote safe, informed health choices.

  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement and assist in evaluating the outcomes of this innovative pilot.

What We’re Looking For

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

  • Experience in primary health care, community health, or women’s and children’s health.

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and person-centred care.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work independently while being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

  • Willingness to travel regularly between crisis accommodation sites.

Benefits

  • Be part of a nationally recognised pilot program creating lasting impact for vulnerable women and children.

  • Work within a values-driven, collaborative team dedicated to holistic, person-centred care.

  • Opportunity to help shape the future of community-based healthcare delivery in a refuge environment.

  • Enjoy flexible, part-time hours that promote work-life balance and professional growth.

  • 12 month contract role with potential to extend depending on funding.

Selection Criteria
Essential

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.

  • Demonstrated clinical experience relevant to the role, including health assessment, care coordination, and health promotion.

  • High-level interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Understanding of relevant health legislation, professional standards, and clinical governance.

  • Digital literacy, including experience with electronic medical record systems.

  • Evidence of current and ongoing professional indemnity insurance.

  • Valid NSW Employee Working with Children Check.

  • Willingness to obtain an NSW Police Check.

Desirable

  • Experience in primary care, women’s health, mental health, or child and family health.

  • Experience working with people affected by domestic and family violence.

  • Cultural competence and understanding of how culture influences health and engagement.

  • Familiarity with RACGP Standards for general practices.
