Job Description

Be part of an Australia-first defence capability program in Newcastle, owning the program schedule end to end and contributing to long-term sovereign defence capability.

  • Australia-first defence capability program based in Newcastle

  • Own the program schedule end to end with real visibility and impact

  • Global collaboration with international program teams

About the Company

Kongsberg Defence Australia is a global defence and advanced engineering organisation trusted to deliver complex, mission-critical capability programs worldwide.

In Australia, Kongsberg Defence Australia is investing heavily in its Newcastle facility, positioning it as a cornerstone of long-term sovereign defence capability. This program offers a rare opportunity to be part of something being built from the ground up, supporting advanced manufacturing, capability development, and long-term workforce growth in the Hunter region.

The organisation is known for its strong technical standards, collaborative culture, and commitment to delivering outcomes that matter.

About the Role

This is a hands-on Project Scheduler role supporting a major defence capability program delivered by Kongsberg. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, you will take full ownership of the master program schedule, shaping how delivery is planned, challenged, and executed.

You will work closely with internal teams, subject matter experts, subcontractors, suppliers, and international colleagues across the Kongsberg global network to extract real inputs, test logic, and ensure the schedule is robust, accurate, and submission-ready.

An immediate priority will be stepping into an existing schedule and preparing an updated submission to the Commonwealth. It is a high-visibility, time-critical role that requires confidence, strong fundamentals, and the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders.

Beyond the initial program, this role will play a key part in establishing and leading the scheduling function as Kongsberg continues to grow its Australian defence footprint, with opportunities to support additional programs and collaborate globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and own the master program schedule using MS Project or similar

  • Control baselines, milestones, dependencies, and critical path

  • Identify schedule risks and challenge sequencing assumptions

  • Integrate subcontractor and supplier schedules

  • Prepare schedule submissions and reporting for the Commonwealth

  • Provide clear schedule insights to support delivery decisions

  • Operate autonomously as the organisation’s scheduling specialist

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience delivering hands-on project scheduling in complex environments

  • Strong capability in MS Project. Primavera experience is highly regarded

  • Solid understanding of critical path methodology

  • Experience across engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, or defence programs

  • Confident communicator able to engage and challenge stakeholders

  • Defence or Commonwealth program exposure is beneficial

  • Australian citizenship required

Why This Opportunity

  • Be part of an Australia-first defence capability program

  • Own a critical role with genuine influence on delivery outcomes

  • Long-term program stability with future project exposure

  • Opportunity to shape and lead the scheduling function

  • Global collaboration and international travel opportunities

  • Competitive salary aligned to experience

Please note: Due to the nature of this role, Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance are mandatory.
