About the company
Nova for Women and Children (Nova) is a leading community services organisation that provides interim, transitional and outreach support and crisis accommodation options to women and children across the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie regions who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness or who are escaping family and domestic violence. Nova is the amalgamation of Eva's Project and Lower Hunter Women's Housing and has been operating in Newcastle for approximately 38 years.
About the opportunity
As the Fundraising and Marketing Specialist, you will drive fundraising and marketing efforts to help grow Nova’s impact in the community. In this part-time role (7 days per fortnight), you’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to identify and secure new revenue streams, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and enhance community engagement and brand visibility.
This is a hands-on role where your ideas and initiative will be valued. You’ll be responsible for developing campaigns and events, submitting grant and tender applications, and managing donor relationships and engagement platforms. Your communication skills will also shine through digital marketing and content creation that raises awareness of domestic and family violence and homelessness.
Key priorities include:
Developing and delivering fundraising strategies and campaigns, including events, online giving, and corporate/community partnerships
Writing and submitting grant and tender applications in collaboration with the CEO
Building and maintaining long-term relationships with donors, sponsors and supporters
Managing social media platforms, donor databases and website content
Planning and coordinating fundraising events from concept to delivery
Supporting community awareness through storytelling, forums and marketing activities
About you
You’re an engaging communicator, strategic thinker, and passionate advocate for social change. You enjoy building authentic connections and know how to translate ideas into successful campaigns and partnerships.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Demonstrated experience in fundraising, marketing, or community engagement
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
Excellent writing, storytelling and content creation abilities
Experience coordinating events and campaigns
Confidence managing digital and social media platforms
An understanding of the not-for-profit and/or community services sector is desirable
A tertiary qualification in Marketing or related field is desirable
Please note, it is a requirement to hold a current NSW Driver’s Licence, National Police Check and Working With Children Check.
