About the opportunity
  
Our client is seeking a Financial & Asset Accountant for a 12-month contract. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of accurate and timely financial and management accounting outcomes, with a focus on project capitalisation, asset accounting, month-end close, and compliance.
  
Based at their fantastic facilities, you’ll be a key member of a collaborative Finance team, working across a range of activities and contributing to the continuous improvement of the finance function.
  
To be successful in this role, we’re looking for:

  • Hands-on experience as an accounting professional.

  • Experience supporting both internal and external reporting.

  • Confidence in classifying costs, determining what gets capitalised versus expensed, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

  • Ability to monitor project spend, provide clear reporting, and maintain transparency and accountability.

  • Comfortable recording and reconciling capitalised labour time against project budgets.

  • Strong asset accounting skills, including WIP, capitalisation, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliations.

  • Knowledge of month-end processes, including revenue recognition, general ledger journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.

  • An understanding of compliance and audit requirements

  • Proactive approach to improving processes, contributing to SOPs, and enhancing finance systems.

  • Experience using finance tools and reporting systems to improve efficiency and control.

  • Collaborative team player who works across departments to deliver accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting.

  • Comfortable handling ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

  • Strong relationship-building skills and clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.

About you
  
You’re an experienced accounting professional with at least three years of hands-on experience and strong technical knowledge. You’re a proactive problem-solver with excellent organisational and communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine drive to improve processes and collaborate with others.
  
Experience with the TechnologyOne ERP system, will be highly regarded in applicants.
