About the company
The Australian Clay Target Association (ACTA) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting participation and excellence across all levels of the sport from grassroots juniors to elite international competitors. They are the national governing body for clay target shooting in Australia; and strive to foster a connected and inclusive community, underpinned by strong values and a vision for sustainable growth of the sport.
About the Opportunity
This is a pivotal executive role responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational direction of ACTA. Reporting directly to the Board, the Executive Officer will lead the development and delivery of ACTA’s current and future strategic plans, working closely with a small, dedicated team and engaging with State and Territory Associations across Australia.
This role will be instrumental in driving organisational success, strengthening community and stakeholder relationships, leading exciting initiatives and coordinating national events, and driving the continued success of the sport.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and operational management aligned with ACTA’s objectives to deliver against the strategic plan.
Support the Board through effective governance and clear communication, including capturing minutes and tracking key actions
Lead planning, funding, stakeholder engagement and forward plan for ACTA.
Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, partners, government bodies, and community organisations
Promote a positive and inclusive organisational culture
Manage financial and physical resources to ensure sustainability and high-quality service delivery
Develop and mentor a high-performing, collaborative internal team
Represent ACTA to external stakeholders and the broader clay target community
Oversee legal, compliance and reporting requirements
Drive adoption of technology and data-led decision-making
Advocate for the sport and maintain ACTA’s strong reputation.
About you
We are seeking a dynamic, inclusive, and influential leader who has a genuine passion for the sport and withholding its integrity and growth:
Proven experience in a senior executive or leadership role
A proactive, compliance-minded approach with strong logistical and planning skills
A track record of delivering both strategic initiatives and operational outcomes
Strong business acumen and financial literacy
Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
An understanding of governance frameworks; experience in sports governance is highly regarded
Experience with clay target shooting or similar member-based sport organisations
The ability to inspire and lead teams through change and growth
Confidence working with legal, contractual and compliance matters
Essential Requirements
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check
Ability to travel domestically as required
Current firearms licence or ability to obtain one
