About the opportunity:

Philanthropic events enable HMRI to connect with its current and future supporters. The Philanthropic Events Specialist assists both the Philanthropy Team and the HMRI Foundation Event Committee, in the planning, promotion and delivery of events to achieve business plan objectives. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop a program of philanthropy events that will contribute to fundraising goals, including detailed event plans and budgets for each event in continuous consultation with the relevant Philanthropy Team stakeholder.

  • A focus on stewardship and retention including working with the Philanthropy team to develop supporter journey programs to contribute to the relationship management of donors and supporters who are undertaking fundraising activity or attending events.

  • Drive the coordination and delivery of the event plan within budget, and present analysis of return on investment including event income and evaluating event success with a continuous improvement focus.

  • Negotiation of contracts for venues, catering, audio-visual equipment, signage, on-site production, and post-event details.

  • Support and coordinate the promotion of events including advertising creative, content development, copy writing, speakers, signage, online presence.

About you:

We are looking for an excellent communicator and relationship builder who can confidently represent HMRI in a professional and positive way when in the community and at events. You will have a strong drive to work for a values driven organisation where you will be making a positive difference by contributing to important and meaningful research. A passion and commitment to fundraising through events to contribute to the great work HMRI facilitates is

key. A high level of organisational skills is required, with experience working to deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment. You will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills who can also work independently when required. There will be some events outside of normal work hours that the Events Specialist will be required to attend.

Key Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Events Management, Marketing, Project Management, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated fundraising event management experience is preferred or corporate/sales event management experience.

  • Proven experience in coordinating and implementing successful event campaigns and initiatives from brief to implementation, including alignment with strategic goals, achieving key milestones and within budget.

  • Ability to work co-operatively, to accomplish joint tasks, build positive working relationships, and work as an effective and high-functioning member of a team.

  • Advanced computer skills and ideally experience working with CRMs and event management software with a strong aptitude to adopt and utilise cloud-based platforms.
