About the opportunity:
Events enable HMRI to connect with its current and future supporters, stakeholders, and the wider community. Reporting into the Head of Marketing and Communications, The Events Specialist will partner with internal sponsors to plan, promote, and deliver events to achieve HMRI objectives. Your key responsibilities will include:
Manage the events calendar and budget ensuring detailed event plans, budgets, and post event return on investment analysis for each event in continuous consultation with the event sponsor.
Deliver researcher collaboration and brand-based events, including trade shows, seminars, workshops, launches, conferences, professional and networking events for in person, hybrid and virtual platforms, and community events and campaigns.
Negotiation of contracts for venues, catering, audio-visual equipment, signage, on-site production, and post-event details.
Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to coordinate the promotion of events, for example, advertising, content development, and online presence.
Research and identify financially beneficial new event opportunities to grow HMRI’s event portfolio and profile.
About you:
We are looking for an energetic, warm, and engaging events professional who is passionate about working for a values driven organisation where you will be making a positive difference by contributing to important and meaningful research. We are looking for somebody who is a skilled networker and who can build strong and sustainable relationships with key stakeholders. A high level of organisational skills is required, with experience working to deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Some events may require attendance outside of normal work hours.
Key Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Events Management, Marketing, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated multi-event project management experience in a similar environment for example in a corporate setting.
Proven experience in coordinating and implementing successful event campaigns and initiatives from brief to implementation, including alignment with strategic goals, achieving key milestones and within budget.
Ability to work cooperatively, to accomplish joint tasks, build positive working relationships, and work as an effective and high-functioning member of a team.
Advanced computer skills and ideally experience working with CRMs and event management software with a strong aptitude to adopt and utilise cloud-based platforms.
