About the position
Reporting into the Executive Director of Quality and Risk, the Director of Enterprise Risk has an essential role in developing the strategic response to risk, ensuring effective insurance, and establishing a critical incident response framework. This broad and autonomous role will suit an experienced risk leader who enjoys owning the process and making impactful changes to an organisation.
You will have the opportunity to raise the risk management profile and maturity across the organisation and ensure its readiness for critical events. You will be pivotal in ensuring that there is maximum awareness and uptake of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and consistent use of its systems and tools.
A broader scope of the position includes:
Ensuring that the organisation takes a whole of business strategic approach to the management of risk;
Supporting the Executive Director of Quality and Risk in promoting risk-based considerations with risk appetite statement, risk management and business cases through Executive Leadership and Board/Sub-Committee meetings;
Promoting a strong risk culture that reinforces risk as core to strategy, business operations;
Coordinating the annual placement of insurance policies and ensuring strong working relationships with Insurers including in the submission of claims;
Leading and enhancing a team of direct and indirect reports;
Assisting the Executive Director in improving the overall risk maturity with a focus on the annual risk management and continuous management of the risk management framework; and
Identifying and assessing emerging risks and recommending approaches to managing these risks.
About you
To be considered for this newly created position of Director of Enterprise Risk, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
A risk and compliance leader with demonstrable experience leading and implementing a risk and compliance function in a complex organisation;
Strong influencing and negotiation skills demonstrating high levels of commerciality and pragmatism;
Commitment to developing and applying skills to meet performance expectations and contributing own experience in developing and mentoring others, to build effectiveness of the team.
Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor delivery to a wide range of audiences;
Proven experience in promoting and delivering continuous improvement, reviewing policies, procedures and systems, based on best practice and innovation;
Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and deliver outcomes effectively and efficiently; and
Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, or a related discipline.
