About the role

This newly created role will take on the responsibility of the development and delivery of the compliance and risk management framework. With a focus on best practice, you will support the organisation to achieve strategic and operational objectives through the on-going development, implementation and monitoring of the compliance and risk management framework.
  
This is a full-time role based in the Newcastle. Reporting to the Corporate Governance Manager, it will manage the following responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of the compliance and risk management plan and control systems

  • Review, develop and implement compliance and risk management policies, procedures, guidelines and processes to ensure regulatory compliance

  • Conduct a gap analysis and provide advice, guidance and recommendations to the business regarding risk and compliance strategies, projects and initiatives

  • Implement and conduct internal audit programs to meet industry accreditation requirements

  • Facilitate, drive and oversee all WHS systems and legislative requirements for the business

  • Work collaboratively with the People and Culture team to ensure employee compliance relating to statutory clearance and training

  • Prepare and manage all reporting as required for senior management and external regulatory bodies

About you

We are looking for an experienced and proactive person. Ideally you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a senior compliance and risk management role

  • Demonstrated experience in managing industry registration and accreditation – ideally in a community services-based organisation (eg. NDIS, Aged Care)

  • Experience managing and developing risk and compliance documentation including policy, procedure, manuals, handbooks, plans and reports

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying legislation, to ensure compliance

  • Ability to research and provide sound advice relating to all compliance and risk matters

  • Proven experience in the application of child protection and child safe standards

  • Excellent knowledge of and application of WHS practices

  • Understanding of restrictive practice management and reporting

  • Strong commercial acumen and proven experience in undertaking activities that contribute to meeting the business’s objective and plans

  • Ability to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders, including regulatory and industry bodies

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills including strong assessment and judgement skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Risk Management, or similar

  • Certificate IV in WHS
