Join Singleton Council’s passionate Disaster Resilience team and help communities build strength for the future.
At Singleton Council, you’ll work with a team that’s deeply committed to making a real difference. The Community Resilience Officer will play a central role in delivering a range of community-centred projects designed to improve disaster readiness and long-term resilience across the Singleton, Muswellbrook, and Upper Hunter Shire LGAs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s keen to engage with communities, foster partnerships, and support initiatives that strengthen resilience, especially in regional areas vulnerable to natural hazards.
About the Role
You’ll support the delivery of key programs including:
Community Resilience Teams – building capacity and leadership in local communities.
Youth Emergency Services Internship Program – engaging young people in disaster awareness.
Regional Drought Resilience Plan – supporting local projects through grants and drought education activities.
Project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and reporting to funding bodies are all part of the mix.
You’ll be based in Singleton and supported by an experienced and collaborative team, with flexibility around work days and hours. Some evening community engagement (e.g., local events or workshops) will be required.

About You
You’re a strong communicator and relationship-builder, confident working with a wide range of stakeholders including emergency services, youth, schools, and community organisations. You’re also highly organised, outcomes-focused, and enjoy contributing to meaningful, long-term change.
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Qualifications in social science, social work, community development, environmental science, or public health
Experience in community engagement and development
Strong interpersonal and project coordination skills
Reporting experience and confidence working independently
Desirable (but not essential):
Knowledge of disaster preparedness or regional development challenges
