About the Company
PBE Rutherford is part of the global PBE Group, a specialist manufacturer and systems integrator delivering engineered electrical power, communications and safety solutions for complex mining, tunnelling and infrastructure projects. The business supports critical infrastructure through a combination of in-house manufactured products, third-party technologies and deep technical expertise across high-risk operating environments.
From its Rutherford base, PBE supports projects nationally across Australia, working closely with a global Infrastructure team spanning Australia, Singapore and the UK. The Infrastructure division is a strategic growth area for the business, focused on delivering technically robust and commercially viable solutions for major infrastructure programs.
About the Role
As part of the Infrastructure division, the Business Development Manager is responsible for driving national growth across Australia, with a clear focus on infrastructure and tunnelling projects, including battery energy storage and renewable energy zone programs. The position offers a high level of autonomy, ownership and accountability.
Working closely with the Infrastructure Operations Manager and the broader global Infrastructure team, you will shape opportunities from early engagement through estimating, tendering and award. This role suits someone comfortable operating independently, building trusted relationships and contributing to the long-term growth of PBE Rutherford’s infrastructure and tunnelling capability.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and develop infrastructure and tunnelling opportunities nationally
Track upcoming projects and tenders and support early concept development
Prepare estimates, pricing and tender submissions
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and partners
Provide technical input and on-site advice where required
Support sustainable revenue growth aligned to national and global strategy
Skills and Experience
An electrical trade qualification or electrical engineering background is mandatory
Direct experience across infrastructure, tunnelling, mining or heavy industrial projects is essential
Hands-on experience with high voltage cabling, switchgear and electrical systems
Strong capability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and provide practical, site-based technical advice
Proven business development, estimating and tendering capability
Established relationships within the Australian infrastructure and contracting market
Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating with operational and global teams
