About the opportunity
  
Our client is a well-established and iconic Australian brand, supporting clients across the mining, construction, military, and port sectors by supplying industrial products and services for over 50 years.
   
They are seeking an experienced and capable Assistant Accountant to support their Finance Team in the Sandgate head office. Reporting to the Group Accountant, you will play a key role in a collaborative Finance team. This varied position focuses on delivering accurate, timely, and efficient financial support, including transactional duties and reporting as required.
   
Key Responsibilities: 
- Work closely with the Group Accountant to prepare end-of-month reconciliations 
- Prepare month-end reporting workpapers 
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and update cashflow reports 
- Prepare end-of-month calculations, including payroll tax, BAS, and IAS 
- Review payroll for accuracy, identify inconsistencies, and report appropriately 
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure consistent coverage 
- Assist the Group Accountant with all payroll reconciliations 
- Provide other support to the Group Accountant as required 
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, bookkeeping, Finance or Commerce 
- An experienced accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role. 
- Confident in preparing BAS and reviewing payroll data entry with great attention to detail. 
- Experienced in completing bank and general ledger reconciliations. 
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when reviewing payroll and payment runs. 
- Ability to assist in the preparation of monthly reports. 
- Comfortable undertaking ad hoc tasks and projects as required. 
- Able to work closely with the Group Accountant to deliver timely and accurate financial services. 
- A clear communicator, responsive to finance-related queries.
