Our client is a Not-for-Profit organisation with a remarkable reputation for making a difference to people’s lives in our community. They currently have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join their team.
About the role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the purpose of this hands-on role is to provide accurate and timely accounting, analysis and reporting support to the management team, while ensuring integrity of information systems and compliance with accounting procedures and legislative requirements. Day to day you will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Prepare accurate monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income and expense accounts including entering monthly standing journals
Assist with the preparation of monthly reports
Prepare all monthly bank account reconciliations
Prepare BAS Statements as required
Assist with the preparation of audit working papers
Assist in the preparation of annual budget workpapers
General assistance to the Finance Manager with month end processing
Prepare and process payroll on an ad hoc basis
Oversee the processing of payroll ensuring data input and procedures are efficient and accurate
Assist the Payroll Officer in respect to applicable industrial legislation and regulation
About you
Ideally the successful candidate will have strong financial and statutory experience or be a Senior / Manager in a Public Practice or Business Advisory role looking for a commercial opportunity. Someone who is inquisitive, can hit the ground running, collaborate across divisions, is confident in leading a team, and focused on ongoing innovation and process improvement. Someone who is always wanting more and looking for ways to add value where possible. The ideal candidate will also possess the following:
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels
Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting or Commerce
CPA/CA designation
A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in an accounting role
Strong PC skills and an Excel expert
