Job Description

  • Do you have a passion for your local community?

  • ….and a strategic mindset and business experience that could add value?

  • Be part of a new and exciting chapter for Swansea Community Cottage!

About Swansea Community Cottage
Swansea Community Cottage is located in the heart of Swansea and is the conduit for the local community to information, advice and referral services.  In addition, the organisation runs a number of activities, group workshops and courses for locals, and importantly, OOSH and vacation care services in the Swansea and East Lakes area.

It is without doubt that Swansea Community Cottage has a positive impact in the community in which it serves!

About the position
Recent management changes within Swansea Community Cottage have paved the way for new opportunities, and this includes the appointment of new Board Director positions to compliment the skills of the current Board.  The organisation is well underway in making positive changes and the onboarding of new Board Directors is another exciting element for the future of Swansea Community Cottage.

With a clear focus on overall strategy, governance and performance of the organisation, the Board Director positions are for a 3-year term and require a time commitment of approximately 4 hours per month, including attending and participating in Board meetings, relevant committee meetings and preparation time.

About you!
The experience and expertise we are seeking in the Board appointments includes commercial/business management, NFP, financial, risk, legal or HR, along with contributing to setting strategy.  We are looking to build a Board committee with complementary skills in these key areas.

Whilst this is a volunteer role, travel and out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.

This is a great opportunity to embark on a Board-based career, whilst giving back to the Swansea and surrounds community that you love!  We are open to candidates that may already have Board or Committee experience, as well as those keen to take on their first position.
