Job Description

 

TuffCo Glass is a leading manufacturer of architectural glass building products. With production facilities located in Newcastle and Coffs Harbour, TuffCo work closely in B2B supply with glass fabricators, the building and construction industry and architects to customise glass products including toughened, laminated, and insulated glass.

The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible for the management and performance of the TuffCo operations across Newcastle and Coffs Harbour sites, which combined has a workforce of 30+ employees. The General Manager will be visible across business operations in both locations, lead and positively impact the business by:

  • Establishing and implementing the strategic plan in accordance with the TuffCo Board;
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership to manage the existing operations in the context of business plans;
  • Identifying team and individual skills gaps and develop and implement training plans to enhance performance and business outcomes;
  • Reviewing and developing the sales growth plan and communicate across the organisation;
  • Developing and implementing business improvement activities across all areas of the business to enhance production efficiencies, operational capacity and growth potential, whilst also increasing profitability; and
  • Adopting and demonstrating a culture of continuous quality improvements.

The General Manager can be based from either the Newcastle or Coffs Harbour production facility, and will be required to spend suitable time at each location to effectively lead the business into its next growth phase.

About You

As the leader of the business, your exceptional communication skills will come to life as you work closely with the management team to develop business improvement initiatives and assist Managers in execution of business plans.

The experience required to bring to the position includes:

  • Developing organisational strategy and business plans through to execution;
  • Leadership and management experience of a similar business;
  • Success in achieving year on year growth in revenue and profitability of a manufacturing business;
  • Strong key account planning, business development and commercial experience;
  • Production planning and process improvement experience;
  • Experience in supply chain, including importing, logistics and route planning;
  • Experience within the construction industry; and
  • Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and National Construction Code (NCC).

Desirable skills include architectural glass product knowledge and knowledge of glass processing machinery and machinery manufacturers.
