About the Port
The Port of Newcastle (PON) is Australia’s deepwater global gateway, the largest on the nation’s East Coast.  With its annual trade already worth in excess of $25 billion to the NSW economy, the Port enables Australian businesses to successfully compete in international markets. As custodians of the region’s critical asset, the PON is diversifying its trade as it strives to create a safe, sustainable and environmentally and socially responsible future.

About the opportunity
There’s never been a better time to consider a change and be part of a region undergoing transformational change.

Despite already being the busiest port on the East Coast of Australia, PON has the capacity to double the number of vessels it serves and activate circa 400 hectares of port-side land. PON is committed to creating new and additional trade and opportunities to inspire a thriving Hunter community.

Strategy and Innovation Manager is a new role created to assist in setting and implementing a strategy that creates a sustainable competitive advantage for the Port now and into the future.

Reporting to the Senior Strategy and Innovation Manager, and a senior part of a high-performing strategic team, you will support and deliver the Port’s corporate strategy embedding it into the business, whilst identifying and implementing customer focused innovation activities. You will be highly visible in this role, interacting with and influencing a wide diversity of internal and external stakeholders.

About the benefits
In addition to a diverse and exciting work portfolio, PON also offers employees outstanding benefits, including 14 weeks paid primary carer parental leave, income protection insurance and salary-sacrifice superannuation co-contribution. PON also offers employees an opportunity to be a part of an agile workplace, with individual agile plans in place across the organisation to assist and support individuals to work from both the office and home.

Relevant tertiary qualifications are essential. Strong commercial acumen and experience with pricing, trade or business forecast models and an understanding of the complexities operating in a regulated environment brings will be highly regarded. Experienced in stakeholder engagement at all levels you will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to analyse and present information.

We are hiring for attitude and will train for skill, and the role may suit someone with a strong commercial, marketing or finance background looking for a broader challenge to bring all parts of the business together.
