About the organisation
Our client has set the benchmark in equipment management solutions in the mining and construction industries. With more than 3,000 staff spread across locations in NSW, ACT and WA, they focus on long-term relationships with their clients and their people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team in this permanent role.
About the opportunity
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide legal advice to business stakeholders in an in-house capacity. The role is a generalist role, providing accurate, timely, commercial and pragmatic legal advice to the organisation to support and protect their interests, on a range of legal and regulatory matters across the organisation.
You will:
Draft, review and negotiate legal agreements (customer agreements, procurement and leasing) with third parties to minimise legal risk and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Advise on legal disputes and take a lead in their resolution.
Ensure compliance with legislative requirements by monitoring legislative changes and implementing appropriate compliance programmes and frameworks.
Provide legal and compliance training to business
Act as Company Secretary for subsidiary businesses
About you
This role is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who can demonstrate the following experience and attributes:
Tertiary qualifications in law, current practicing certificate and 6+ years’ experience, preferably with in-house experience
Demonstrated experience advising on commercial legal matters, including strong experience with commercial contracts
Demonstrated skills in resolving disputes with third parties, including litigation
Excellent stakeholder management skills with an ability to work with diverse client groups
Strong skills in negotiating effectively with service providers and other stakeholders
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
