Our client is a Not-for-Profit organisation with a remarkable reputation for making a difference to people’s lives in our community. They currently have an excellent opportunity for a 4-day per week Payroll Officer to join their team.
  
About the role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the purpose of this hands-on role is to conduct the full payroll function including payroll processing, maintenance of leave records, preparing month end reports, reconciliation of the general ledger and responding to staff related enquiries. Day to day you will be responsible for (but not limited to):
  
  • Accurately preparing and processing fortnightly payroll(s)
  • Collecting, calculating, and entering data to maintain and update payroll information
  • Ensure payroll policies and authorisation processes are followed
  • Finalise payroll processes to meet deadlines for transmission to financial institutions
  • Maintain a working knowledge and application of Fair Work Australia Standards and Multi Enterprise Agreements
  • Recording, reconciling and adjusting leave entitlements of employees
  • Implement annual increases and step progressions to salaries as required
  • Ensure all transactions are in line with relevant employment contracts, Awards and applicable legislation
  • Arrange payment of deductions and superannuation
  • Attending to payroll related enquiries
  • Completion of employment termination calculations as required
  • Prepare and process end of year functions
  • Ensure regulatory compliance deadlines are met
  • Maintaining knowledge and communicating applicable legislative changes
  • Liaise with Dept of Human Services and Salary packaging providers
Essential experience we are seeking in the successful Payroll Officer includes:
  • Detailed understanding of payroll and tax legislation
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple awards and/or enterprise agreements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience running a payroll function operationally, within a medium to large organisation
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel
