The organisation and position

Located in the thriving NSW regional city of Tamworth, our client employs over 1000 across many locations in NSW and Queensland. They are a community-based organisation with diverse business streams and operate in an interestingly complex environment.

Established for the first time as an enterprise-wide position, the Internal Audit Manager will provide high-quality support to the Board, CEO and Executive Team through the provision of assurance and audit services. The Internal Audit Manager is an important one as it helps to guide and improve business operations and governance through offering best practice recommendations.

The position will be focussed on creating the audit strategy and audit plans, then extends to conducting audits, evaluations and reviews. Rounding out the assurance and audit function will be preparing reports; outlining deficiencies and making recommendations for remedial action.

Reporting directly to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee for work direction, feedback and auditing plans, your daily management line will be directly to the CEO and you will play an important role as part of the Executive Team to contribute to the future success and growth of the organisation.

Additional skills and experience we are seeking include:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply internal auditing standards and methodology across a range of internal audit reviews (including financial, compliance, operations, human resources and information management audits).

  • Well-developed skills to research and analyse complex issues and to formulate practicable solutions.

  • Awesome communication skills in both the verbal and written sense including the ability to prepare reports and correspondence of a concise and accurate nature.

  • A willingness and desire to actively participate and contribute in a team environment to ensure that goals are achieved.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to take appropriate directions and to work as both a member of a multidisciplinary team and/or independently.

  • Ability to guide, assist and provide advice on organisational accounting policies and procedures.

  • A calm, unflappable approach.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Commerce including CA or CPA.

  • Professional Membership of, or eligibility for, the Institute of Internal Auditors.
