Located in the thriving NSW regional city of Tamworth, our client is a local success story that has now grown to over 1000 employees across NSW.    
  
The role
The role of Senior Financial Accountant will report to the General Manager of Finance and is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to take the next step, on the pathway to management.    
The position is a wonderful mix of continuing to ‘roll your sleeves up’ in financial and management accounting procedures on a daily, monthly and annual basis, as well as leading business improvement projects relating to financial management across the organisation.  You  will support and assist in the development of the small finance team based in Tamworth.  The position is offered on a fulltime basis.   

Key Responsibilities 
  • Monthly accruals, fixed assets, prepayments, and other GL reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheet as well as BAS lodgements
  • Coordinate and compile monthly and other periodic financial and performance reporting for distribution to the Board, Executive Team and Managers including P&L, balance sheets, cash flows, KPIs, trend and variance analysis
  • Preparation of annual budgets and conduct quarterly reviews
  • The preparation of year-end audit work papers & financial statements
  • Preparation of acquittals for grant funding
  • Provide support and ongoing development to the finance team
  
Your experience
The position will best suit an individual who has developed their career to date into financial accounting responsibilities and would now like their next step to be as a Financial Controller (the position holds that title!).  Other areas of essential criteria include:
  
  • A degree in Accounting, preferably CA/CPA qualified or near completion
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail in all that you do
  • A strong aptitude for IT systems and software, particularly MS Excel
  • An ability to recognise where business improvement can be made to procedures and the proactiveness to make it happen
  • A passion for understanding the business to be able to identify how you can introduce new practices that suit the needs of the organisation 
How to apply
The salary will be in the vicinity of $110,000 + super + the benefit of salary packaging tax advantages, and flexible working hours.  There is also an opportunity to negotiate additional annual leave of up to 4 weeks per annum.
