Our client, Eire Constructions, is a growing civil construction company specialising in road, utility, subdivisions and land development. They currently have an excellent opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join their team in either Port Macquarie or Newcastle and manage the financial accounting functions delivering quality and timely group financial services and reporting to stakeholders ensuring full taxation compliance.
About this role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the purpose of this hands-on role is to ensure the underlying financial management is positioned to meet strategic goals. The Financial Accountant will oversee the financial functions team, provide accurate and timely accounting, analysis and reporting support to the management team, while ensuring integrity of information systems and compliance with accounting procedures and legislative requirements. Day to day you will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Manage and deliver financial services for Group;
Banking including administration of lending facilities
Cash transaction control and oversight, including cash flow monitoring and management
Capital Expenditure and Fixed Assets accounting
GST/BAS returns
Taxation (including Income, Payroll, Fringe Benefits and Fringe Benefit) management, reporting and compliance
Group Reporting
Preparation and coordination of above including monthly journals, reconciliations, forecast data and variance analysis
Overall preparation and finalisation of monthly management reports to agreed timelines.
Maintain relevant general ledger controls within group policy guidelines.
Coordinate and carry out agreed projects from scoping, planning and prioritising through to execution, liaison and finalisation and sign off/completion.
With the CFO, liaise with the Auditors of the Annual Audit program.
Liaise with external professional advisors, e.g. Tax Accountants and Advisors, Bank, Auditors, regulatory bodies, for completion of statutory returns
Contribute to the annual budget planning process by active involvement in design, planning, liaison and documentation for agreed units, processes and departments
Monitor, promote, design and implement internal controls across business and working with non-financial team members.
We are looking for someone with a sense of humour who is inquisitive, can hit the ground running, collaborate across divisions, is confident in leading a team, and focused on ongoing innovation and process improvement. Someone who is always wanting more and looking for ways to add value where possible. The role will suit an individual who is degree qualified in Accounting or Commerce with demonstrated experience in a similar accounting role.
