About the opportunity
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant plays a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial and management accounting outcomes.
This is a well-rounded position with responsibility across month-end processes, financial reporting, compliance, and system and process improvement. While you will have exposure to capital projects and asset accounting, the role offers a balanced mix of core financial accounting responsibilities.
Working as part of a collaborative Finance team, you will contribute to maintaining strong financial controls while supporting the ongoing evolution of systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post general ledger journals, including accruals and prepayments.
Support the month-end close process through reconciliations and workpapers.
Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reporting.
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure integrity of financial data.
Support revenue accounting activities, including oversight of key revenue streams.
Assist with compliance requirements, including BAS, FBT and audit preparation.
Contribute to year-end processes and external audit requirements.
Provide support across capital projects and asset accounting where required.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely financial information.
Contribute to continuous improvement of finance systems, processes and controls (including TechnologyOne).
Assist with ad hoc analysis and cross-functional finance support as needed.
About you
You’re an experienced accounting professional with at least three years of hands-on experience and strong technical knowledge. You’re a proactive problem-solver with excellent organisational and communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine drive to improve processes and support team outcomes.
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Business.
Solid understanding of financial accounting principles and standards.
Experience with month-end processes and financial reporting.
Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
Experience with the TechnologyOne ERP system is also essential for applicants!
