About the role
There are six key areas, Environmental Management System and audits, Legislation and compliance, Stakeholder Engagement, Risk Management, Budget Support and Training. As the Environment Advisor will have carriage of the day-to-day environmental management activities with minimal supervision and provide significant input at a strategic level, including developing systems and providing advice on environment and contaminated land issues.

In this role you will also lead and support strategic programs on behalf of the Environment Manager and Senior Manager Property, Environment & Planning, including ensuring development and port operations are appropriate and support PON’s objectives and commitments as well as ensuring regulatory compliance, monitoring and reporting. It is a highly visible and interactive role that requires a high level of leadership, communication and influencing skills.

About you
You will have at least 4+ years’ solid experience in industry including working in the field and bring a strong knowledge of documented compliance and management systems including policies, procedures and internal/external review.
Additionally, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in environmental science, management, engineering or related technical discipline;

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and analytical skills;

  • Demonstrated experience to interpret and successfully implement requirements of relevant legislation and standards;

  • Experience in managing consultants and projects; dealing with regulatory agencies; and

  • A high degree of initiative, must be organised, methodical and thorough in detail

  • A genuine team player
