  • Join a committed and passionate team who were awarded City of Newcastle’s 2026 Community Group of the year.

About the company

Jenny’s Place is a long-standing, community-based organisation supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness. Since 1977, they have delivered crisis and transitional accommodation, outreach support, early intervention and prevention programs, alongside integrated case management to help clients access safe housing and wraparound supports.

With a vision of a community free from violence and homelessness, Jenny’s Place is driven by compassion, empowerment and collaboration, working alongside women and children to rebuild safety, stability and independence.

About the opportunity

The Core and Cluster model is a contemporary approach to supporting women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, combining independent, self-contained accommodation (“the cluster”) with a central hub (“the core”) that provides access to wraparound supports such as case management, counselling and community services.

In this role, you will deliver the interim phase of the model, providing trauma-informed outreach case management to women and children experiencing or at risk of homelessness as a direct result of domestic and family violence (DFV), whilst the purpose-built cluster is being developed. You will contribute to the foundations of a new program area that is firmly grounded in safety, empowerment and long-term recovery from violence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed case management to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children experiencing DFV-related homelessness

  • Undertake culturally informed risk assessment and safety planning, supporting safety while maintaining connection to family, community and Country

  • Provide outreach support in safe settings, helping clients access housing, services and practical supports

  • Build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities and work collaboratively with key services to deliver coordinated support

  • Advocate for clients across legal, housing and community systems, including support with ADVOs and court processes

  • Maintain clear case notes and contribute to a collaborative, culturally responsive and continuously improving team

The benefits

As a valued member of the Jenny’s Place team, you’ll enjoy:

  • 5 weeks annual leave + 1 week wellbeing leave

  • Salary packaging (PBI) to increase take-home pay

  • Supportive leadership and a collaborative team environment

  • The opportunity to make a genuine impact in the local community

  • This role is classified at SCHADS Award Level 5, Pay Point 1

About you

You are a compassionate and grounded practitioner with a strong understanding of the challenges faced by Aboriginal women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. You bring a culturally respectful, trauma-informed approach, along with the confidence to advocate for clients and support them through complex situations.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new and evolving program. You will bring a positive, proactive mindset and enjoy building something from the ground up, establishing strong community connections and shaping how the program is delivered locally.

In addition, you will bring:

  • Experience in case management, ideally within DFV or community services

  • A sound understanding of domestic and family violence and its impact on women and children

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and build trust across community and service partners

  • A solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and take initiative

  • Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A commitment to cultural safety, work place practices and cultural supervision

Tertiary qualifications in Human Services (minimum Diploma level) are required, along with a current driver’s licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

This is an Aboriginal and female identified position in accordance with Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
